Night Train - Press
These three musicians draw from the repertoire of the really
big Big Bands and don´t stop at stars like Count Basie, Duke
Ellington or Thad Jones (...) They have climbed mountains
whose peaks even the big Big Bands have yet to glimpse. The
name of the mountain: first Jazz & Blues Award Berlin 2001. It
must have been a positively charged mass of fans, because
finally Night Train won the audience award of this challenge
and of course won some self-confidence.
You can feel it on their latest album “Express”. Free of any
dread they work on arrangements of famous songs like
“Moten Swing”, “Teach me tonight” oder “I´ll never fall in love
again”, without detracting from, or destroying, them. More
importantly, Night Train's interpretations are felicitous tributes
to these songs. On their route through the night, the
talented musicians always have some swing in their
baggage..
